13 Reasons to Love the 13 Reasons Why Soundtrack

The music behind the controversial Netflix drama that tackles the serious subject of teen suicide.

Dylan Minnette stars in 13 REASONS WHY (Beth Dubber/Netflix)

One of the things that makes Netflix’s haunting new hit drama 13 Reasons Why so memorable for fans is the music behind the series.

As complicated and moody as many of the show’s characters, each song sets the scene for Hannah’s (Katherine Langford) tragic story and the motives behind her suicide. Other tunes stir up memories for Clay (Dylan Minnette), who can’t help but wonder if there was more he could’ve said or done to save her life.

From Joy Division’s “Love Will Tear Us Apart” to the “Only You” cover by Selena Gomez, 13 Reasons Why is jam packed with tracks that can’t be ignored.

Time will tell if the newly announced second-season will be driven by music too. Until then, read on to find out more about the songs that stood out this time around.
