2019 Emmy Award Nominations

Game of Thrones led the 71st annual Emmy Awards announced on Tuesday, July 16 with 32 overall nominations, the most for any program in a single season (beating NYPD Blue’s 25-year record). The HBO fantasy program, which aired its final season this year, now has the most Emmy nominations for a drama in history with 161 and the most Emmys won with 47.

In addition to the expected drama lead actor nominations for Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke and the supporting nods to Lena Headey, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Peter Dinklage, stars Gwendoline Christie and Alfie Allen scored supporting nominations and Carice van Houten received a guest nomination.

Game of Thrones was followed by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (20), Chernobyl (19), Saturday Night Live (18), Barry (17), Fosse/Verdon (17) and When They See Us (16).

HBO led the nominations by distributor with 137, followed by Netflix  with 117, and NBC with 58.

The Masked Singer judge Ken Jeong and The Good Place star D’Arcy Carden announced the nominees.
