At the CBS Upfront presentation at Carnegie Hall in New York, CBS unveiled the logo for the new Star Trek within the television series’ first-ever promotional video. The new series will feature new crews, new villains, new heroes and new worlds, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers. This highly-anticipated program marks the first original series developed for CBS All Access, and will premiere in January 2017.

Carol Burnett’s Favorite Sketches will air on PBS on June 3 and will include 12 classic sketches from The Carol Burnett Show. The sketches were picked personally by Ms. Burnett, who provides new intros for each. Several segments of the serial soap opera parody, “As the Stomach Churns,” will be aired, including one with Harvey Korman in drag that hasn’t been seen on TV in over 40 years. The announcement comes the same week Time Life announced that four collections from the original series are finally available in digital format. See the trailer for the new collections here.

Last week, Emmy award winning reporter Morley Safer announced that, due to his failing health, he was retiring after 52 years with CBS News. CBS News has confirmed that Morley Safer died in his Manhattan home this Thursday. Safer was highly regarded for his breakout coverage of the Vietnam War and for his 46-year tenure at 60 Minutes.  He was 84.

CBS put speculations to rest at its Upfront presentation in New York this week – it has greenlit a spin-off series of its critically acclaimed show The Good Wife. But there’s catch, the new series will be available exclusively on CBS’s subscription-only streaming service All Access. The spin-off will follow fan favorites Diane Lockhart and Lucca Quinn, and will pick up one year after the final episode of the original series. The creators and executive producers of The Good Wife, Robert and Michelle King, will co-create and executive produce the new series along with Phil Alden. Ridley Scott, David Zucker, Liz Glotzer and Brooke Kennedy will also executive produce.
