Round 2 of the Marvel Villains Showdown is officially in the books, and it’s safe to say there weren’t any real upsets. The remaining Sweet Sixteen are comprised almost entirely of iconic characters or beloved fan favorites, which guarantees that things will probably get a little more interesting from here on out. The only two close contests we had this round were between Sabretooth and Alexander Pierce (the former won by a 2% margin) and between Ronan the Accuser and Vulture (the latter won by a 4% margin). It’s probably no surprise that the largest margin of victory came courtesy of Infinity Saga villain Thanos, who whipped X-Men: First Class’ Sebastian Shaw 97% to 3%. Yikes! Maybe Kevin Bacon will do better when he faces off against Peter Dinklage’s Toxic Avenger.
Round 3 features some key match-ups like Ultron vs. Magneto and the Winter Soldier vs. Baron Zemo, and every vote counts, so make sure to throw your support behind the villains you think should move on. Polls will close on Sunday, June 27 at 10pm PT, and Round 4 will commence on Monday, so make your voice heard and take us one step closer to crowning the Ultimate Marvel Movie Villain!
