New On DVD This Week: War for the Planet of the Apes, Annabelle: Creation, and More

This week on DVD, we’ve got the capper to an acclaimed blockbuster trilogy, a solid horror prequel, a couple of smaller Certified Fresh films, and more. Read on for the full list.


War for the Planet of the Apes (2017) 94%

Andy Serkis returns as ape leader Caesar in the third installment of the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise, which finds the apes squaring off against a ruthless colonel bent on eradicating all threats to humans. Available in 4K and 3D, as well as a box set of the entire trilogy, it comes with a ton of deleted scenes with optional commentary, a making-of doc, and a number of featurettes on different aspects of the film.

Personal Shopper (2017) 81%

Kristen Stewart stars in Olivier Assayas’ mysterious drama about a personal shopper to the stars who attempts to make contact with her deceased twin brother. Released by the Criterion Collection, it comes with a new interview with Assayas, a 2016 Cannes Film Festival press conference with the cast and crew, and an essay by film critic Glenn Kenny.

An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power (2017) 79%

In a follow-up to his Oscar-winning 2006 documentary, Al Gore examines the progress made in the fight against global warming since the first film. Bonus features include a making-of doc, a OneRepublic music video, and a video of Gore offering a brief summary of the film for an small audience.

Annabelle: Creation (2017) 71%

Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda Otto star in David F. Sandberg’s (Lights Out) prequel about a grieving 1940s couple who adopt a number of orphans and are terrorized by the titular demonic doll. Extras include deleted scenes, a commentary track a pair of horror shorts, and a pair of making-of featurettes.

Bushwick (2017) 47%

Brittany Snow and Dave Bautista star in this action thriller about a young woman and a janitor attempting to survive a domestic militia invasion in their home neighborhood. It comes with a making-of featurette, a photo gallery, and a poster gallery.

The Emoji Movie (2017) 7%

T.J. Miller and James Corden provide the voices for this animated film about an emoji unsure of his identity who embarks on a quest to be like everyone else. Special features include a commentary track, a Hotel Transylvania short, a dance-along video, how-to-draw videos for two of the emojis, and more.
