Donald Trump Loses in The People's Court, But Wins This Week's Saturday Night Live

Plus Elizabeth Warren, Tracy Morgan's surprise, and more Sean Spicer

Alec Baldwin has been on Saturday Night Live every week this year with his impression of Donald Trump, so a whole episode of Baldwiny goodness promised more laughs than a jar of Schweddy Balls. Here are eight sketches from Baldwin’s 17th time hosting SNL that everyone’s going to be talking about at the office Monday morning.

President Trump threatened to see the judges who upheld the overturning of his travel ban in court, so SNL heard his complaint in The People’s Court. They even set this up in the cold open (more below). Trump thought being “a TV president” would make The People’s Court his home turf, but it was just an excuse for Baldwin to imitate his babbling about “bad hombres” some more. They should release a single of Baldwin singing “Bad boys, bad boys, watcha’ gonna do?” (you know, the Cops theme song) on iTunes. When Russian President Vladimir Putin (Beck Bennett) showed up as Trump’s character witness, he was still topless for some reason. The next case promised Trump is suing a Nordstrom manager, presumably for dropping Ivanka’s line.

After Elizabeth Warren made news this week, being blocked from reading Coretta Scott King’s 1986 warning against Jeff Sessions in the Senate, she made an appearance on SNL (portrayed by Kate McKinnon). McKinnon as Warren interrogated Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che about getting full credit and pay for one segment, when McKinnon appears throughout the show. When she brought up Donald Trump hosting SNL, Jost cut her off again. Must still be a sore spot.

In a digital short, McKinnon did her usual Kellyanne Conway, who didn’t take it well when CNN rejected her for appearances this week. She won’t be ignored by Jake Tapper (Bennett). McKinnon was actually terrifying, hilarious and sexy doing knife play, dancing for clicks and licking Bennett. The creeptastic finale can’t be unseen.

Lorne Michaels heard you (and read your tweets). Everyone loved Melissa McCarthy as White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer so she was back right in the cold open. They took the prop game to the next level with that giant stick of gum, dollies demonstrating extreme vetting (poor Moana) and leaf blowing Cecily Strong. They hit all of this week’s White House gaffes too, with a list of fake terrorist attacks (“Slaughter at Fraggle Rock”), turning the briefing into QVC for Ivanka’s line and introducing McKinnon as Jeff Sessions. It turns out The People’s Court was Spicer’s idea, and bravo to SNL for following through with the sketch after Update. This may be the only time this season Baldwin isn’t in the cold open because he had to be ready for the monologue. Spicy got to say “Live from New York” this time, on a Segway podium!

In a sketch that probably wouldn’t stand out among this week’s topical sketches, Baldwin played a military drill sergeant. Flubbing a line made it a memorable SNL moment. The line was “an attitude that stinks worse than the outhouse at a chili cookout.” He said “cookie Chillout” and immediately corrected, “chili cookout I meant, dammit!” Watch his recovery above.

In another digital short, Jones had the crazy idea to play Donald Trump herself. Bold move on the night Baldwin is hosting. She looked hilarious in the blonde wig and she’d clearly done the research, but she ends up in a screaming fit to Lorne Michaels. She actually does a better Trump than Vanessa Bayer who stole her mojo at the end. Hey, Jones even fooled Melania!

Tracy Morgan made a surprise appearance in this sketch, playing one of Beyonce’s twins along with Kenan Thompson. An ultrasound took a look inside Beyonce (Sasheer Zamata)’s red velvet womb as the twins lounged around with the umbilical chord wrapped between them. They’re really looking forward to being Beyonce’s kids, finding out what their names will be and dropping a sick burn on Destiny’s Child. Beyonce sang them to sleep with “All The Sleeping Babies,” then woke them up again with the remix.

What better way to end a heavily political episode than with relentless fart jokes and Baldwin’s straight face?
