The Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) and the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) announced the Television Nominees for the 2019 Writers Guild Awards. A couple of new HBO series came up big, as Barry and Succession both scored nominations in their respective genre categories (Comedy and Drama) but also showed up in the New Series category, where they will square off against each other. Barry also earned an Episodic Comedy nomination for its pilot episode, bringing its total to three, while Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale joined Succession as the only two other series to earn nominations in more than one category. Read through for the full list of nominees for TV, new media, radio and promotional writing below, and come back on January 7 when the film nominees are announced.
