The 89 Best HBO Series Ranked

Updated: July 8, 2020

Game of Thrones may have been HBO’s most popular show ever— but is the epic fantasy series HBO’s all-time best-reviewed show?

No.

The cable network has plenty of buzzworthy series on its current lineup, including dark comedy Barry (two seasons are Certified Fresh — one with a perfect 100% score on the Tomatometer), the sci-fi mystery of Westworld (two seasons Certified Fresh in the high 80s and the most recent season finished at 76%), and award-winning drama Big Little Lies (both seasons are Certified Fresh with the first season at 93% and the second at 85%). And that’s not to mention HBO’s signature prestige dramas including The Sopranos (92%), Chernobyl (96%), and Western period drama Deadwood (92%), and newer comedy Insecure (96%).

We’ve rounded up Tomatometer scores for the best HBO series and miniseries to make this list of the top HBO shows to fill your binge-watch calendar into next year. To qualify for the list, a series must have at least 10 reviews counting toward its score.
